What Makes a Sentence "Simple" Vs Complex or Compound?

Thanks a lot for your help! π

Greetings to you and your little pie, Sakura.
A complete sentence should have a subject and a predicate. The diversity of simple, compound, and complex sentences is in their dependent and independent clauses.
1. Simple Sentence- has one dependent clause
- Anna is happy.
- The dogs are angry and hungry.
2. Compund Sentence- uses a conjunction, a conjunctive adverb, or a semicolon to join two independent clauses
- Anna is happy, so she goes shopping.
- The dogs are angry and hungry, but their owner is not home yet.
3. Complex Sentence- uses a conjunction or a relative pronoun to combine an independent clause with one to more dependent clauses
- Since it's her birthday, Anna is happy.
- Although the dogs are angry and hungry, their owner hasn't got food to feed them yet.
