Using "Upon" in a Sentence

'Upon' is a preposition that can be used in a number of ways.
1. upon as 'on', pertaining to where something is
Example: The pencil case is upon the book. (The pencil case is on the book.)
2. upon as a part of a verb phrase like depend upon or insist upon
Example: My answer to your question depends upon what my mom thinks of you.
3. Upon can be used to show that something happens soon after, and often because of, something else
Example: Upon arriving at her friend's house, she was immediately seated and given a plate of food.
