How can Kids Identify Phrases in Sentences?

 Hello! To help kids identify phrases in sentences, explain that a phrase is a group of words that work together but doesn’t have both a subject and a verb like a full sentence. 

They can look for groupings like noun phrases : Groups of words that work as a noun  ("the red ball"), 

verb phrases:  Groups of words that include the main verb  ("was running"), 

prepositional phrases:  These start with a preposition and give more detail  ("in the park").
