An 'adverb' is a word that describes or gives more information about a verb, adjective, another adverb, or phrase.

Here is an exercise for adverb practice:

Circle the adverbs and underline the verb, adjective, adverb, or phrase they describe.

  1. They finally received their allowance from their parents.
  2. The car passed by them quickly.
  3. Anna is usually walking slowly when she crosses the pedestrian.
  4. The teacher is always well-dressed.
  5. The dog runs extremely fast to catch the thief.
  6. Grace looks incredibly beautiful in her blue dress.
  7. They are all very happy because they all passed the final test of the term.
  8. I hope she can move faster so we won't be late.
  9. My family will attend the reunion held annually.
  10. Mark encounters a quite difficult question.
