“Birds of a feather flock together” talks about how people of similar types, interests, tastes, personalities, or opinions tend to put themselves in one group. It can be used to show how similar two or more people are.
In a conversation, we can easily say “Mark, Andy, and Nathan are birds of a feather flock together. The three of them are all athletes and honor students.”
I guess your little one is happy about having friends who share the same hobbies and interests as her.
