Miner and Minor — so similar but used so differently

    Greetings to you, user695!
The difference between 'miner' and 'minor' starts with what parts of speech they are. While 'miner' is just a noun, 'minor' can be used as a noun or an adjective.
A miner is a person who works in a mine to get minerals such as coal, diamonds, or gold. We can say, "Being a miner is a dangerous job."
A minor, as a noun, means a child or someone who is under the age of full responsibility. Being a minor is the opposite of being an 'adult'. On the other hand, minor as an adjective pertains to something of lesser importance or something small. It is synonymous with being slight or unimportant.
Examples:
noun: Parents are responsible for their children as long as they are minors.
adjective: My teacher told me that my essay needs some minor corrections.
