Caprese pronunciation with phonetic transcription
Hello dear teacher my friend and I were discussing Italian food, and I casually mentioned "Caprese," saying it like "Cap-reez." She laughed and told me it’s actually "Cah-pray-zay," but I’m not sure if she’s right. Can you clarify the correct pronunciation?

Hello, and thank you for your question.
The spelling of this word is very misleading, and so it is understandable to think that it is pronounced 'Cap-reez', but your friend is correct. The word is pronounced as 'Cah-pray-zay'.

Thank you for reaching out, and I hope that I have been of assistance to you.
