(يرنّ منبّهه يوميًا في الساعة الثامنة صباحًا.)
رغم أن الفعل go يعني «يذهب»، فإن تركيبه مع الظرف off كوّن فعلًا مركبًا جديدًا go off يحمل معنى «يرنّ» أو «ينطلق» عند الحديث عن المنبّه، وهو معنى لا يمكن استنتاجه من الفعل وحده.
