قاعدة المقارنة والتفضيل في اللغة الإنجليزية: good better best ودرجات الصفة مع الأمثلة والتمارين

نستخدم المقارنة بين شيئين اثنين، والقالب الثابت: A + is + comparative + than + B. أما الصياغة فتتبع طول الصفة:

• صفة قصيرة (مقطع واحد): أضف -er: tall → taller, old → older
• تنتهي بحرف ساكن-متحرك-ساكن: ضعّف الأخير: big → bigger, hot → hotter
• تنتهي بـ -y: اقلبها -ier: happy → happier, easy → easier
• صفة طويلة (مقطعان فأكثر): more + الصفة: beautiful → more beautiful

23. Sara is younger than her cousin (سارة أصغر سناً من ابنة عمها.)
24. The train is slower than the plane (القطار أبطأ من الطائرة.)
25. Your handwriting is neater than mine (خطك أرتب من خطي.)

نستخدم التفضيل لتمييز واحد عن مجموعة كاملة، ولا ينسى القاعدة الذهبية أحد: التفضيل يأتي دائماً مع the! القالب: A + is + the + superlative — بإضافة -est للقصيرة وthe most للطويلة.

للقول إن شيئين متساويان نستخدم as + الصفة الأصلية + as: “She is as tall as her brother.” وللنفي: not as … as (ليس بقدر). إليك 15 مثالاً:

• المقارنة المزدوجة: “more taller” خطأ؛ إما -er وإما more — لا الاثنان معاً.
• نسيان than: “My bag is heavier your bag” ناقصة؛ الصحيح “heavier than your bag.”
• نسيان the مع التفضيل: “He is smartest student” خطأ؛ الصحيح “the smartest student.”
• قياس الشواذ: “gooder” و“baddest” لا وجود لهما؛ احفظ better وthe worst.
• الخلط بين than وthen: than للمقارنة وthen ظرف زمان بمعنى “ثم”.

ملاحظة أخيرة تربط الدروس ببعضها: أفعال جمل المقارنة مثل is, seems, looks كلها من الأفعال الثابتة stative verbs، وكما شرحنا الفرق بين some و any في دليل الضمائر غير المحددة، فإن أدوات المقارنة أيضاً تختار رفيقها بدقة: -er مع than، و-est مع the.
