In sintesi
  • Possono avere forme diverse: avverbi di tempo (yesterday, now, already), espressioni temporali (last night, every morning, all day) oppure strutture con preposizioni di tempo (on Monday, at 5 pm, since 2022, for two hours).
I always drink coffee in the morning).

I met Tom three years ago (Ho conosciuto Tom tre anni fa).

✔️Da quando / Da quanto tempo? I’m working now and I have been working since 7 this morning (Sto lavorando / lavoro da stamattina alle 7).

✔️Per quanto tempo? Laura will be on vacation for the next three months (Laura sarà in viaggio per i prossimi tre mesi).

✔️Con quale frequenza / Quanto spesso? My mother practices yoga every day (Mia madre fa yoga tutti i giorni).

  • Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away – The Beatles
  • Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley
  • Even if it takes all night or a hundred years – Billie Eilish
  • King already, already, you know it – Beyonce
  • Last night a DJ saved my life – Indeep
  • Turn around now, You’re not welcome anymore – Gloria Gaynor
  • [I can] talk to myself for hours – Miley Cyrus
  • We never learn, we’ve been here before – Harry Styles

✔️ avverbi di tempo (adverbs of time): yesterday, never, before, always, already…

✔️ adverbials: all night, a hundred years, every morning…

I will call you tomorrow.

2️⃣In particolare, gli avverbi di frequenza (seldom, rarely, often, ecc.) vanno prima del verbo principale: Julia often takes the bus to school. I have never seen anything like this. I will always love you.

3️⃣Un’espressione di tempo formata da una preposizione di tempo più altre parole (per es. by that time, in three days, at noon) o da un aggettivo con uno o più nomi (all day, last summer ecc.) può andare all’inizio o alla fine della frase, a seconda della diversa enfasi che vuoi dare alla frase: I’m leaving in a week. In a week I will be free.

❌ Errori comuni con i Time Markers in inglese

❌ I have seen him yesterday
✅ I saw him yesterday

❌ I am living here since 2020
✅ I have been living here since 2020

❌ I go always to the gym
✅ I always go to the gym

❌ We will meet in Monday
✅ We will meet on Monday

❌ She studied for three years ago
✅ She studied three years ago

Ten years ago, there had been lots of pictures of what looked like a large pink beach ball wearing different-colored bonnets – but Dudley Dursley was no longer a baby, and now the photographs showed a large blond boy riding his first bicycle

Yet Harry Potter was still there, asleep at the moment, but not for long. His Aunt Petunia was awake and it was her shrill voice that made the first noise of the day.

“Up! Get up! Now!

Harry woke with a start. His aunt rapped on the door again.

“Are you up yet?” she demanded.

“Nearly,” said Harry.

“Well, get a move on, I want you to look after the bacon. And don’t you dare let it burn, I want everything perfect on Duddy’s birthday.”

About once a week, Uncle Vernon looked over the top of his newspaper and shouted that Harry needed a haircut. Harry was frying eggs by the time Dudley arrived in the kitchen

Potrebbe piacerti
