What is NovaKid Online English School?

NovaKid is an English school teaching English to kids between 6 and 12 through a virtual online platform with native speakers of English.

What's the difference or/and advantage of learning online?

In traditional formal education, kids have to commute to language schools which means a great amount of time lost in vain both for kids and parents. In addition to this, your child will have to study at least 2 academic hours since otherwise is not profitable for formal schools and that will be tiring for your child. At NovaKid, 25-minute lasting lessons will definitely not be tiring for your child. You will have the chance to have lessons at your home comfortably and and ay time convenient for you. Besides, you will not have to prepare for the teacher's arrival. Finally, at NovaKid, your child will have the chance to study with native English speaking teachers and learn at their own pace in individually designed classes.

I would like to enroll and start your service. What should I do?

You can request a free trial lesson by clicking the 'Free Trial Lesson' button at the top of the page and enter the information you are asked. Your account will automatically be created, the access details to your account will be sent to the email address you provided. Our administrators will contact you in maximum 24 hours and plan your free initial lesson.

Can I delete or change the registered information?

Yes. However, you can change or delete the information you provided during the registration by contacting your personal representative. Please be warned that you cannot change your email address.

I am a parent and I don't speak English at all. Will that be a problem?

No. You will have your personal consultant/admin providing the information flow between you and your teacher. Apart from that, in case your teacher types something during the lesson in English, our platform automatically translates it to your language.

How can I withdraw?

You can withdraw and cancel your subscription by sending us an e-mail any time. However, please be advised that you will need to withdraw earlier than 8 hours prior to your scheduled lesson to avoid payment for the late class cancellation. Plase remember that only withdrawal requests via e-mail will be taken into consideration.


What is your methodology?

The NovaKid method of teaching is based on the effective and proven communicative approach combined with Total Physical Response approach-TPR. Communicative approach - the approach that combines practicing communication with the study of grammar. Starting from the first lesson, your child becomes familiar with the English language and starts to practice speaking. This approach doesn’t allow a language barrier to form while also significantly speeding up further development of the language. TPR - the method of learning from an entry level using facial expressions and gestures for achieving understanding of the material that is submitted in English.

Can I cancel a lesson?

Yes, you can decline or reschedule the lessons 8 hours prior to your scheduled lesson.

How can I cancel or postpone a lesson?

You can cancel or postpone the nearest scheduled lesson through your personal cabinet and you can do it maximum 8 hours prior to your scheduled lesson. If you need to cancel/reschedule more than one lesson, please contact us. Please be advised that any cancellation or postponing less than 8 hours prior to the scheduled lesson results in a lesson deduction from your account.

Can we suspend our subscription for a while?

Yes. You can call or type us to plan your vacations. You can suspend your lessons keeping your schedule with your teacher for up to 2 weeks. For suspensions more than 2 weeks, you cannot keep your teacher or schedule. You can continue your lessons any time you are back. You will need to contact us to reschedule your lessons again on your return. Please be informed that all your balance will be frozen on your account during your suspension

Is it possible to study with two different teachers at the same time?

Yes you can have more than one teacher through the week but not two teachers at the same time in a class. However, we do not recommend studying with more than 2 teachers under any circumstances.

Do you teach children above 12?

Our materials and methodology are for children age 6-12. However, depending on the month your child was born, you might be eligible to study at NovaKid.

Do you teach children age 4-5 (younger than 6)?

Our materials and methodology are for children age 6-12. However, depending on the month your child was born, you might be eligible to study at NovaKid.

I have twins/2 kids with a small age gap. Can they join a lesson together?

No. At NovaKid, we care our students' learning habits and speed. This is why all the lessons are planned for one to one studies.

Does your curriculum follow the school curriculum?

NovaKid curriculum is built in accordance with European Standard CEFR levels A1 and A2, which correspond to the Cambridge English YLE Movers and YLE Flyers tests, as well as grades 2 to 9 of the English language federal state program (GEF).

My child can't speak or understand English at all. Will that be a problem?

No. Our basic starter lessons are designed considering the kids starting to learn English as well. Our materials are enriched by practice and examples and our teachers are trained accordingly. They assess and decide whether a child needs to review a topic by providing more practicing time and chance to the child.

What are the levels you teach?

At the moment, we have 4 levels following the CEFR A1 and A2 levels standards and our levels also correspond to the Cambridge English YLE Satarters, YLE Movers and YLE Flyers tests.

How do you assess my child's level?

Every child's level is assessed considering all their language skills. Our teachers are experienced and trained in level assessment and your child's level will be assessed by his/her teacher during the initial lesson.

What lesson materials do I need to have in advance?

At NovaKid, you don't have to purchase any extra materials. We provide all the needed materials for the lessons in our virtual platform.

What textbooks are your program based on?

As NovaKid, we use our own materials prepared and designed by pedagogues from the USA and the UK.

What are the class days and hours?

At NovaKid, you don't have to adapt yourself to a schedule. You can have classes everyday, any time from 9:00 am to 8:30 pm.

What happens if I run late for a class?

if it is your first (trial) lesson, your teacher will wait for 5 minutes after the scheduled start time. If student doesn't show up in 5 minutes, the teacher leaves the class and the lesson is considered as a failed one. If it is one of your regular lessons, your teacher will wait for 15 minutes after the beginning of the class and mark it as 'failed' if you don't show up in 15 minutes. However, if you join the lesson up to 15 minutes late, the teacher will cover the lesson in the alloted time. In this situation, please be advised that your teacher might need to review the same material next time in case they can't cover all the materials. Teacher will be leaving his/her recommendations in the lesson feedback in this case.

How does the payment work?

You can purchase the package you would like through your personal cabinet by clicking the 'Account Balance Top-Up' button. After choosing your package you enter your card details in the pop up screen. After your first purchase, you can save the payment details and give an automatic payment order for your future purchases. You can turn this function on and off whenever you want.

Do I have to pay for the cancelled lessons?

There will be no penalty and you won't have to pay for the cancelled lesson if you cancel your lessons within the free cancellation period (8 hours prior to the scheduled lesson).

Is it possible to pay in installments?

No. All the packages are prepaid and there are no installments. Your bank might provide the installment after the purchase and you can talk to your bank about this.

Can I purchase one package and split it between my 2 kids?

Yes, you can. You can start using one package for all your children without any specific action after purchasing it.

Do you give any discount?

Our standard price per lesson is 15 $ and you get more discount the bigger package you purchase. Apart from that we have 'Bring a Friend' campaign for extra free lessons.

What is "Bring a Friend Campaign"?

Invite your friend to be a part of the family and study at NovaKid! If your friend starts studying at Novakid by buying a package, you get 2 and your friend gets 1 free lessons. Each user has a unique promo code at NovaKid in their profile. When your friend shares your promo code (or your phone number) with us and purchases a package of at least 10 lessons your free lessons are loaded on your account by our admins. If you don't receive your free lessons in 48 hours after your friend subscribes and shares your promo code , please contact us via email.

How do I get refund after withdrawal?

You will receive the refund in 3 business days following your withdrawal request. The refund is sent to the credit card you used while purchasing. If you have purchased a package with discount, NovaKid has the right to apply the prices without discount to the studied hours.

How can I change my payment method?

Once you purchase a package on the platform, the card details you entered is saved in your account for your future purchases. Next time you want to purchase, you won't need to enter all the details from the beginning. Moreover, you can order automatic purchase and buy packages when your account balance goes zero. You can always activate/deactivate this function in your account.


Who are your teachers?

The first rule of becoming a teacher at NovaKid is being a native speaker of English. Our teachers are citizens of The USA, The UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland or South Africa. Secondly, we require at least 1 year teaching experience.

Do you have non-native teachers?

No. We hire only native English speaking teachers from the USA, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland or South Africa.

What qualifications do your teachers have?

Apart from being a native English speaker, we require a teaching related qualification to be a teacher at NovaKid. Our teachers have either a diploma in the related field, and/or an internationally valid teaching English to speakers of other languages certificate such as DELTA, CELTA, TESOL, or TEFL. These certificates are achieved after successfully completing a course but they all refer to adult teaching metodology. That's why before starting to teach at NovaKid, all teachers have to pass through an intensive training on teaching English to kids and get an internationally valid NovaKid teaching certificate.

How can I choose a teacher for our regular lessons?

Once you send a trial request, our admins plan a lesson with you according to your preferences by calling you. Your trial lesson teacher continues as your regular teacher. However, if you want to try another teacher or study with more than one teacher, you can contact us via phone or email.

How can I communicate with our regular teacher to ask about my child's progress?

You can address any question or any comment related to your child's progress to your personal education consultant/administrator. You can also get in touch with teachers at support@novakidschool.com

What happens if my child doesn't like the teacher?

We care your child's learning and we trust our teachers about that. All our teachers are experienced in teaching children as well as in teaching online. Moreover, they pass through a special training before taking new students at NovaKid. Despite that, we believe learning can sometimes be a matter of chemistry between the teacher and the student. If you child doesn't like his/her teacher, we allow you to choose another great teacher at NovaKid.

Technical questions

What equipment will I need to study at Novakid?

NovaKid virtual classroom works on desktops and laptops. All you need is a computer, headphones and internet (not slower than 3MB upload and download speed).

Do I need to install Skype?

No. Our virtual classroom comes with an integrated video call function.

Can I use a tablet/mobile phone for the lessons?

Yes. As long as you login your cabinet on a browser (Chrome or Mozilla) you can have your lessons on tablet and mobile phone as well. However, we do not guarantee a good performance in this case.

What happens if I can't take the lesson due to the internet interruption?

If the interruption is on account of the platform or teacher, we reschedule your lesson to some other time without any loss. However, if the interruption or conenction problem is on the student's account, the lesson is considered as done. You can have an instant speed test to check your internet status at the beginning of each lesson or any time you have a problem by using the 'Speed Test' button in your personal cabinet.

What happens if I fail to pass the speed test before the lesson?

Speed test is compulsory together with camera and microphone tests for a successfully conducted lesson. You will still be able to join the virtual classroom but we cannot guarantee the success of the lesson without the test.

What is NovaKid Digital Pen?

NovaKid Digital Pen is a virtual pen that is controlled through mouse or touchpad and lets your child draw and write during lessons.

The number you are calling is a landline and NovaKid doesn't charge you for your call. However, your provider may apply standard operator charges.
